Auckland Wedding Vendors
Vendors I love working with. The ones I’d book!
Thirty years of weddings means I’ve worked alongside a lot of talented people. This isn’t a directory — it’s a short list of the Auckland wedding vendors who’ve genuinely impressed me, who I’d recommend to a couple without hesitation, and honestly, who I’d book myself if I needed what they do.
If someone you love isn’t here, it doesn’t mean anything. It might just mean we haven’t crossed paths often enough yet.
Photography & Video
Moving Films — Shanel and Gray make wedding films that actually feel like the day. Emotional, cinematic, and they know how to stay out of the way while still getting everything.
Perspectives Photography and Cinema — Photo and video under one roof, which simplifies the day considerably. Consistently beautiful work.
Sarah Weber Photography — Sarah has a gift for capturing real moments rather than posed ones. The photos feel lived-in.
Lionel Tan — One of those photographers who makes couples feel completely at ease. The results speak for themselves, and he’s sent more than a few couples my way over the years.
Chris Turner Photography — A genuinely talented photographer who understands the rhythm of a wedding day.
Perry Trotter Photography — Perry has been shooting weddings since 2003 and brings the kind of calm, experienced presence that makes a real difference on the day.
Venues
Bracu — One of the most beautiful properties in New Zealand. The olive grove alone is worth it.
Settlers Country Manor — Twenty years of working here and it keeps getting better. The team is exceptional.
Kumeu Valley Estate — A stunning vineyard venue in the heart of west Auckland wine country. Always a great day.
Tawharanui Lodge — An intimate, beautifully considered venue that punches well above its weight.
Rydges Auckland — Rooftop — One of Auckland’s best-kept secrets. City views, great facilities, and a team that knows how to run an event.
The Sapphire Room, Ponsonby Central — Upstairs at Ponsonby Central and one of Auckland’s most characterful event spaces. Exposed beams, recycled wood floors, industrial charm. Versatile enough to work for everything from an intimate wedding to a full reception.
Bands & Entertainers
David Shanhun — Probably the best smile on any performer in New Zealand. An outstanding solo act covering everything from the 80s to now.
Shaun Preston — Unquestionably New Zealand’s most energetic solo performer. He uses every part of the piano to entertain — you have to see it.
Aaron Bloomfield — A crooning performer who brings a touch of nostalgia to the biggest hits. Also a licensed celebrant — genuinely one of the good ones in both roles.
Halo — An energetic, charismatic covers band that travels the country for the best parties and celebrations. They bring the room to life.
The Renegades — A classic acoustic band that always delivers. Reliable, musical, and great for a room that needs warmth rather than volume.
Celebrants
Aaron Bloomfield — As comfortable in front of a crowd as any performer I’ve shared a stage with. Ceremonies with Aaron are personal, warm, and genuinely memorable.
Laura Giddey — Laura has been doing this since 2012 and it shows. Warm, flexible, and completely unflappable on the day.
Lee Weir — Rock FM’s night host and a registered marriage celebrant with a relaxed, charismatic style that works beautifully in a wedding setting.
Catering
Little Wolf Catering — Creative menus, impeccable service, and guests who rave about the food for months afterward. One of Auckland’s best.
Great Catering Company — Serious professionals who can handle everything from intimate dinners to large-scale receptions without missing a beat.
Décor, Lighting & Hire
La Lumière — Auckland’s go-to for wedding lighting and draping. They transform venues. Fairy lights, chandeliers, or something completely custom — start here.
Insphire Wedding Hire — Furniture, tableware, décor — everything you need to dress a venue properly. Been at the heart of Auckland events for over two decades.
Jewellery
Seventy Six Design — Custom wedding and engagement rings made in Ponsonby by Shaun and Ange. They made both of our wedding bands for our 2019 wedding. Personal recommendation doesn’t get more personal than that.
Sound & AV
Edwards Sound Systems — When an event needs serious audio and lighting infrastructure, Edwards is who you call. A family business with nearly 60 years in the industry. Thoroughly good people.
Photo Booths
Party Booths — Fun, well-run, and guests love them. Simple as that.
DJs
Mike Steffens — A single operator with decades of experience who takes his craft seriously. If I’m not available, Mike is someone I’d trust with a couple I care about.
DJ Ray — Auckland DJ Service — Ray runs a multi-operator company and we work differently — but that’s the point. If your event calls for Pacific Island flavour, heavy R&B, or you need sound hire and a photobooth sorted in one call, Ray’s your person. We do the occasional job together and I have nothing but respect for what he does.
More to come. This list will grow.
